Description

The 1995 (D) Paralympic Dollar is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. With a mintage of 28,649, this is a scarce issue — the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $800 NG0 11-01-2008 Stack's. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9718.
