Description

Part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series, the 1994 (W) Women Military Dollar is a dollar from the West Point Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 53,069 examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. The West Point Mint, once a bullion depository, became a full production facility specializing in commemorative and bullion coinage. Auction record: $527 MS70 03-29-2005 Heritage Auctions.
