Description
The 1994 (D) World Cup Dollar is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The U.S. Mint produced 81,698 examples, making this the scarcer of two mint variants, with 12% of total production. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, authorized by Congress to honor significant American events, people, and institutions and the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $1,083 MS70 09-11-2022 eBay.
