The 1993 (W) World War II 50th Anniversary Commemorative Five Dollar Gold represents a West Point Mint issue from the Modern Commemorative Five Dollar Gold (1984-Date) series. The West Point Mint struck 23,672 uncirculated World War II 50th Anniversary five-dollar gold coins dated 1991-1995. The obverse features an American serviceman raising his rifle in victory, and the reverse displays a large V with the Morse code for V, and laurel. The West Point Mint, once a bullion depository, became a full production facility specializing in commemorative and bullion coinage. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9678.
