The West Point Mint struck 27,732 uncirculated Barcelona Olympic five-dollar gold coins dated 1992. The gold coin in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics program, this $5 piece captures the explosive energy of an Olympic sprinter. The obverse features an Olympic sprinter running with a vertically hanging American flag superimposed behind, while the reverse displays a bald eagle with the Olympic rings. Designed by James Sharpe, T. James Ferrell/James M. Peed. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9924.
