Description
The 1992 (P) Proof American Eagle Ten Dollar Gold is a proof Gold Eagle struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the American Eagle Ten Dollar Gold 1986 to Date series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 46,269 of these proofs dated 1992, by the Mint's figures. Saint-Gaudens's Liberty from the 1907 double eagle, carrying a torch and an olive branch, fills the obverse; Miley Busiek's reverse shows a male eagle with an olive branch flying above a nest where a female eagle sits with her young. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 91.67% gold, 3% silver, 5.33% copper, weighing 8.48 grams, 22 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9861.
