Description
The 1989 (D) Congress Dollar was struck at the Denver Mint as a dollar in the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Denver Mint struck 135,203 uncirculated Congress Bicentennial dollars dated 1989. The obverse shows the Statue of Freedom from the Capitol dome and the reverse the mace of the House of Representatives. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9634.
