Description
The 1985 (P) Jefferson Nickel is a nickel produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The U.S. Mint produced 647.1 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 58% of production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Moderate mintages from both Philadelphia and Denver. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4114.
