Description

A standard-issue copper-nickel clad Washington quarter, this 1977 quarter was produced at the Philadelphia Mint without a mintmark (Philadelphia quarters did not carry a "P" mintmark until 1980). The obverse features John Flanagan's portrait of George Washington based on Jean-Antoine Houdon's 1786 bust, surrounded by "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching arrows and an olive branch, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
