Description
The 1971 (S) Lincoln Memorial Cent is a cent produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 528.4 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C.. The 1971 Doubled Die Obverse is a significant variety. San Francisco produced both proofs and business strikes this year. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
