1964 Quarter Pattern - RB-1180, INCO
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
The RB-1180 experimental quarter is among the final entries in INCO's 1100-series of test strikes, produced for the US Treasury's evaluation of silver replacement alloys in 1964. These test pieces were struck at Medallic Art Company's facilities in New York using genuine Washington quarter dies supplied by the Philadelphia Mint. The combination of official dies with experimental planchets created pieces that are both historically significant and technically fascinating, as they preserve the physical record of alloy compositions that were tested during one of the most important transitions in American coinage history.
Rarity Notes
Extremely rare experimental piece with very few known examples. Individual INCO alloy compositions from the 1100-series rarely appear in the numismatic marketplace.
