1964 Quarter Pattern - RB-1035, INCO
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
An INCO experimental quarter featuring the RB-1035 alloy composition, struck as part of the 1964 evaluation program that ultimately led to the Coinage Act of 1965. The urgency of the silver crisis is reflected in the scope of INCO's testing program: the company produced test strikes in literally hundreds of different alloy combinations across quarter, dime, half dollar, and blank planchet formats. The RB-1035 variant represents one of many compositions in the initial 1000-series that explored the fundamental copper-nickel alloy parameters. These pieces are distinguished from later RB series (2000s, 3000s) which tested different alloy families or bonding approaches.
Rarity Notes
Extremely rare. Individual RB-number compositions typically survive in quantities of one to three pieces, making comprehensive collection of the full INCO quarter series virtually impossible.
