Description
The 1962 Roosevelt Dime was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a dime in the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 72,450,000 dimes dated 1962. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $12 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 2.5 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5124.
