Description
The 1956 Roosevelt Dime is a dime produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. The U.S. Mint produced 108.6 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 50% of production. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $13 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 2.5 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5112.
