Description
The 1953 (S) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. With a mintage of 4.1 million, this is a scarce issue — ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 15% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. The 1953-S is the condition rarity of the series — extremely scarce in Full Bell Lines designation. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
