Description
The 1952 (S) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. With a mintage of 5.5 million, this is a less common issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 11% of total production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Three-mint production continued. The 1952-S is a common date but scarce with Full Bell Lines. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $155 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6663.
