Description

Produced at the Manila Mint, the 1941-M Philippine Centavo is part of the Philippines Centavos 1903-1945 series. From 1937 the reverse carried the arms of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, taken from the Commonwealth seal designed by Ambrosio Morales, while Figueroa's seated figure stayed on the obverse. The Manila Mint struck these centavos from 1937 to 1941 with an M beside the date; with Manila under Japanese occupation, the 1944 coinage came from the San Francisco Mint and carries an S. The Red Book and the Krause catalogue record 5,000,000 pieces. Catalogue numbers: KM-179. PCGS number 90180.
