Description
Part of the Standing Liberty Quarters 1916-1930 series, the 1926 (D) Standing Liberty Quarter is a quarter from the Denver Mint. With a mintage of 1.7 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 11% of total production. The obverse features Liberty standing in a gateway between two walls, holding an olive branch and a shield and the reverse displays an eagle in flight. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $22 to $292 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
