Description
The 1925 (D) Indian Head Quarter Eagle is a Gold Quarter Eagle produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Indian Head Quarter Eagles 1908-1929 series. Total mintage reached 578,000. The obverse features a Native American chief wearing a feathered headdress, designed in incuse (sunken) relief — a revolutionary departure from traditional raised relief coinage and the reverse displays a standing eagle on a bundle of arrows with an olive branch. After a decade-long gap (1916-1924), quarter eagle production resumed at Philadelphia with a large mintage. Estimated market value ranges from $866 to $1.2K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 4.18 grams, 18 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7949.
