Description

The 1922 Grant Memorial Commemorative Gold Dollar - No Star is a Gold Dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Classic Gold Commemoratives (1903-1926) series. With a mintage of just 5,000, this is a rare issue sought by specialists. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, while the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Designed by Laura Gardin Fraser. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 1.7 grams, 14.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7458. Classic Gold Commemoratives were produced between 1903 and 1926 in gold dollar and $2.50 quarter eagle denominations. Low mintages across the entire group make most classic gold commemoratives scarce. The 1915 Panama-Pacific $50 pieces are among the most valuable commemorative coins.
