Description

The 1921 Philippine Five Centavos is part of the Philippines Five Centavos 1903-1945 series. The first five-centavo type was struck from 1903 to 1928 in copper-nickel, three parts copper to one of nickel, with the same pictures as the centavo: Figueroa's seated figure with anvil, hammer and Mount Mayon, and the eagle on the United States shield with the date. Philadelphia made the coins of 1903-1904 and the proofs, San Francisco those of 1916-1919 with an S, and the Manila Mint those of 1920-1921 without a mint mark and of 1925-1928 with an M. This coin was struck at the Manila Mint, which used no mint mark until 1925. Greysheet's listing and the Krause catalogue both record 2,131,529 pieces. Catalogue numbers: KM-164. PCGS number 90201.
