Description
The 1921 Peace Dollar - High Relief is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Peace Dollars 1921-1935 series. With a mintage of 1.0 million, this is a scarce issue — the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 100% of the year's production. The obverse features a youthful Liberty facing left wearing a radiate crown, designed after sculptor Anthony de Francisci's wife Teresa and the reverse displays a bald eagle perched on a rock above the word PEACE, with rays of sunlight. First year of the Peace Dollar, struck in high relief to commemorate the end of World War I. Only 1,006,473 produced at Philadelphia, making it a sought-after type coin. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $235 to $4.1K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7356.
