Description
The 1917 (S) Philippine Centavo 7/6 Allen-2.15a FS-301 is a centavo coin from the San Francisco Mint, belonging to the Philippines Centavos 1903-1945 series. The first centavo design was struck in bronze from 1903 to 1936. Melecio Figueroa's obverse shows a young man seated at an anvil with a hammer and Mount Mayon behind him, the value above and FILIPINAS below; the reverse has an eagle standing on the United States shield under UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with the date at the bottom. Philadelphia struck the coins of 1903-1905 and the proofs, San Francisco the coins of 1908-1920 with a small S to the left of the date, and the Manila Mint those of 1920-1922 with no mint mark and of 1925-1936 with an M. This variety shows traces of a 6 under the final 7 of the date; PCGS lists it as Allen-2.15a and FS-301. Catalogue numbers: KM-163, Allen-2.15a, FS-301. PCGS number 90072.
