Description
Produced at the San Francisco Mint, the 1914 (S) Philippine Ten Centavos Allen-8.10b Long Crossbar is part of the Philippines Ten Centavos 1903-1945 series. When the value of silver rose, the act of June 23, 1906 lowered the weight and fineness of the Philippine silver coins: from 1907 the ten centavos weighs 30.864 grains (2 grams) of .750 silver and is smaller across. Philadelphia struck the 1907 coins and the 1908 proofs, San Francisco the coins of 1907-1919 with an S, and the Manila Mint those of 1920 and 1921 without a mint mark and of 1929 and 1935 with an M. PCGS separates the 1914-S coins by a short or a long crossbar, Allen-8.10a and 8.10b; this page is the long crossbar. Catalogue numbers: KM-169, Allen-8.10b. PCGS number 417773.
