Description

Buildings line a tree-shaded avenue on the obverse of HK-349a, under the words "View From The Pier / Jamestown" and over "Exposition / 1907." The piers were the pride of the 1907 Jamestown Exposition, which ran along the waterfront of Hampton Roads at Sewell's Point; the Government Piers were singled out in the HK account as the loveliest single part of the fair. The reverse widens the scene to a bird's-eye view of the whole fair, lettered "Bird's Eye View Jamestown" above and "Exposition / 1607 - 1907" below, inside a beaded border. Twenty-five states took part, and 21 states and 6 Latin American countries put up their own buildings. This souvenir is brass with a reeded edge and measures 33 mm, smaller than the 36 mm HK-349.
