Description
Five of the Midwinter Exposition's buildings share the reverse of HK-260, each in a beaded round panel. The Administration Building sits in the center circle, overlapping the others; the Palace of Horticulture and Agriculture is above, the Palace of Manufactures and Liberal Arts to the right, the Palace of Fine Arts below and the Palace of Mechanics Art to the left. On the obverse a modified state seal fills a circle, with the fair's name around and 1894 below. The fair put up more than a hundred buildings, but Hibler and Kappen say only two were permanent, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Japanese Tea Garden; the palace gave way in 1917 to the de Young Museum, while the Tea Garden is still there. This medal is aluminum, 35 mm.
