Description

Montana sent a silver statue of Justice to the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, and the reverse of HK-767a reproduces it: a front-facing woman holding a sword in her right hand and scales in her left, poised on a globe that sits on an eagle with outspread wings. Around her runs "The Silver Statue Justice," finished below with "of the State of Montana." The model for that statue was the actress Ada Rehan, whose left-facing bust occupies the other side under her name and 1893. A note in the HK listing records the actress's real surname, Crehan, and her long run of parts with Augustin Daly between 1879 and 1899. Look closely under the bust for the incuse copyright of R. H. Park. This is the white metal striking; HK-767 is the aluminum one, and the 45 mm size given there applies to both.
