Description
A winged female figure stands facing the viewer on the obverse of HK-600a, a wreath in her left hand and a spray in her right, with the date divided as 18 and 84 to either side and ribbons below giving the season: "Opens * Sep. 3rd Closes * Oct. 18th." The reverse shows the building itself under "St. Louis Exposition and Music Hall," with "Souvenir" below and the microscopic initials "C.E.D." at lower left. The medal is a souvenir of the 1884 season of the St. Louis Exposition, held in its combined exposition and music hall from early September to mid-October. Hibler and Kappen list the design in bronze (HK-600), white metal and gold-plated bronze (HK-600b); this is the white metal piece, 38 mm.
