The 1876 Proof Quarter Eagle Pattern - J-1480 is a proof quarter eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1876 quarter eagle dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1876 copper strikings from regular dies were made for sale to collectors in sets, which were only partly complete that year. Three copper examples are confirmed. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1633 and Adams-Woodin 1476. Cataloged as PCGS #61802.
