Description
The 1875 Proof Quarter Eagle Pattern - J-1434 is a proof quarter eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1875 quarter eagle dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1875 off-metal pieces from regular dies were struck on purpose for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle, in copper and aluminum. Three copper examples are confirmed, one of them gilt. NGC's census also lists gilt examples of this Judd number. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1577 and Adams-Woodin 1414. Cataloged as PCGS #61741.
