Description
Gilt copper striking of the J-1374 gold eagle pattern from the Bickford International proposal. The copper planchet was gold-plated to simulate the appearance of the intended gold version, allowing evaluation of the design without expending precious metal. Part of the 1874 international trade coinage experiments.
Rarity Notes
R-7 to R-8 (Extremely Rare). Gilt copper strikings of gold denomination patterns are typically rarer than their gold counterparts.
