Description

The 1874 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1363 is a proof trade dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1874 trade dollar dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1874 off-metal pieces from regular dies were struck on purpose for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle, in copper and aluminum. Four copper examples are confirmed, one of them in the Connecticut State Library. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1508 and Adams-Woodin 1379. Cataloged as PCGS #61667.
