The 1873 Proof Three Dollar Pattern - J-1335 is a proof three-dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It was struck from the regular 1873 three-dollar gold piece dies. USPatterns.com regards the 1873 copper and aluminum strikings from regular dies as pieces made for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle. Four different examples are believed known in copper. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1479 and Adams-Woodin 1291. Cataloged as PCGS #61623.
