1873 Proof Eagle Pattern - J-1342, Gilt
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
A gilt copper rendering of the Liberty Head eagle, this pattern recreates the golden appearance of the $10 coin for the final time in the Trade Dollar era program. Where the 1872 gilt eagle had featured the sensational Amazonian design, this 1873 version returns to the conventional Liberty Head motif, bringing the gilt eagle pattern tradition to a conservative conclusion. The piece represents one of the last gilt gold-denomination patterns of the era.
Rarity Notes
