Description
One of two dime patterns for 1873, J-1268 features the Seated Liberty obverse with IN GOD WE TRUST and a wreath reverse, struck in the standard silver alloy. Unlike the half dime and two-cent pieces, the dime survived the Coinage Act of 1873 intact, and these patterns served more as confirmations of the existing design's adequacy than as proposals for change. The dime would continue with the Seated Liberty design until its replacement by the Barber dime in 1892.
