Description

Completing the fifth group, J-990 presents the modified Seated Liberty obverse and STANDARD wreath reverse in copper with a plain edge. As the final systematic variety in the last full six-coin design group of the half dollar Standard Silver series, this piece closes out the methodical exploration of obverse designs for the denomination. Barber produced five distinct obverse concepts for the half dollar alone, each rendered across multiple metals and edge treatments, generating an extraordinary body of experimental coinage that dwarfs the pattern output of any other year in American numismatic history.

Rarity Notes
