Description
Alfred S. Robinson of Connecticut planned a historical series of medals around 1860, and the Anthony Wayne piece engraved for him by George H. Lovett is marked as its first number. The second piece labeled as part of the series was for Robert Fulton; his Jackson, Clay, Van Buren and Washington pieces bear no series label, and Hibler and Kappen leave them all out because none commemorates a Revolutionary War battle. The Wayne medal does: its reverse names Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth and Stony Point inside a closed wreath under eleven stars, and its obverse shows the general's military bust with his name and the years 1745 and 1796. HK-133c is the brass striking, 35 mm, one of five metals from the same dies, from silver (HK-133) to tin (HK-133d).
