Description
The 1835 Classic Head Quarter Eagle is a Gold Quarter Eagle minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the Classic Head Quarter Eagles 1834-1839 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 131,402 quarter eagles dated 1835. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with no motto. Strong production continued at Philadelphia as the new lighter-weight gold coins entered circulation. Struck in 89.9% gold, 10.1% copper, weighing 4.18 grams, 18.2 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7693.
