Description
The 1830 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent - Large Letters represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. Philadelphia's 1830 cents numbered 1.7 million in all; the Large Letters share of that total is not recorded. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Minted during the age of Jacksonian democracy. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1672.
