Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1826 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent - 6/5 is part of the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. With a mintage of 1.5 million, this is a scarce issue — ranked 3rd of 4 mint variants by mintage, with 31% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a hair ribbon inscribed LIBERTY, with a coronet of stars around her head and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Multiple die varieties. The series maintained strong annual production. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding.
