Description
The 1820 Token North West Company - Brass is filed under North West Company Token in the Post-1776 Private and Regional Issues (1778-1820) series. The North West Company, the fur-trading rival of the Hudson's Bay Company, issued tokens dated 1820, its last year under that name before the two companies merged in 1821 (search). They show a royal bust and the date on one side and a beaver with the company name on the other, were struck in brass and copper, and were usually holed; many have been found along the lower Columbia River (search). PCGS lists it as #952.
