Description
The 1810 Draped Bust to Left Half Eagle - Small Date, Tall 5 is a Gold Half Eagle produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Draped Bust to Left Half Eagles 1807-1812 series. The U.S. Mint produced 100,287 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 25% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a mob cap or turban with a larger, draped bust and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Small Date and Large Date varieties exist. One of the more available dates in the series. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $4.8K to $35K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 91.7% gold, 8.3% copper, weighing 8.75 grams, 25 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #8106.
