Description
The 1805 Draped Bust Half Cent - Large 5, Stems is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Draped Bust Half Cents 1800-1808 series. Total mintage reached 814,464. The obverse features Liberty facing right with draped bust and ribbon-bound hair, designed after a Gilbert Stuart portrait, while the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. Designed by Robert Scot. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1090. The Draped Bust Half Cent continued the denomination through the early Republic era. The 1802 is a famous rarity. The entire Draped Bust half cent series is scarce and collected primarily by type.
