The (1800) Medal Washington Funeral Skull, Gold, GW-71A is filed under Funeral Medals in the Washington Pieces (1783-1800) series. Baker's funeral medals for Washington, who died on December 14, 1799, share a uniformed bust in a laurel wreath with HE IS IN GLORY, THE WORLD IN TEARS. The reverse shows either a skull and crossed bones (Baker 165) or a funeral urn (Baker 166) with abbreviated legends of Washington's career; Baker records gold, silver and tin for the first and gold, silver, copper and tin for the second. Musante numbers them GW-71 and GW-70. It is catalogued as Baker-165, Musante GW-71A. PCGS lists it as #879861.
