Description

A 1795 Washington Grate halfpenny with the "Large Buttons" obverse variety and reeded edge (RE). The large buttons on Washington's coat are a key diagnostic feature distinguishing this from the small button variety. The reeded edge provides a coin-like tactile quality. The reverse shows the characteristic fireplace grate design. Large button reeded edge examples are among the more commonly available Grate halfpenny varieties.

Rarity Notes

Moderately scarce. The most available Grate halfpenny variety.
