About This Coin
The 1794 Dollar Patterns is a United States dollar from the Early Republic Patterns (1792-1859) series — the second year of the series. In 1794, coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features various experimental designs testing different concepts for U.S. coinage and the reverse displays various experimental designs. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. Struck in copper. Designed by Various Mint engravers and outside artists.
