Description

The 1713 Fifteen Deniers is a French billon coin worth half the value of the Thirty Deniers denomination. It was struck at the Metz mint (mint mark AA). The fifteen-denier piece is the half of the mousquetaire, with the same crowned L's and cross; CoinVarieties records it as struck only at Metz, from 1711 to 1713. Its standard was 1.22 grams of .208 fine silver, engraved by Norbert Roettiers (CoinVarieties). Like the thirty-denier piece, most stayed in France, though some may have circulated in Canada.
