2026 Semiquincentennial Quarter Designs: Mayflower Compact, Revolution, and More
Five Quarters, Five Pivotal Moments in American History
The 2026 Semiquincentennial quarter program is the most ambitious quarter redesign in U.S. history. Unlike the State Quarters (1999-2008) and America the Beautiful (2010-2021) programs, which shared a common George Washington obverse, the 2026 quarters each feature a unique obverse and reverse. Five different historical figures appear on the obverse, each paired with a reverse commemorating a foundational moment in American history.
Quarter 1: Mayflower Compact (Released January 5, 2026)

The 1620 Mayflower Compact was one of the first governing documents in colonial America — a social contract signed aboard the Mayflower before the Pilgrims disembarked at Plymouth. The reverse depicts the Mayflower under sail.
Designers: Ronald D. Sanders (obverse) / Cyrus E. Dallin (reverse, sculpted by Phebe Hemphill)
Quarter 2: Revolutionary War (Released March 23, 2026)

George Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, appears on the obverse. The reverse shows a Continental Army soldier at Valley Forge — the brutal winter encampment of 1777-1778 that tested the resolve of the revolutionary cause.
Designers: Joseph Menna, 14th Chief Engraver (obverse) / Donna Weaver (reverse, sculpted by Craig A. Campbell)
Quarter 3: Declaration of Independence

Thomas Jefferson, principal author of the Declaration, appears on the obverse. The reverse commemorates July 4, 1776, when the Continental Congress formally declared independence from Great Britain — the event that the entire Semiquincentennial celebrates.
Designers: Benjamin Sowards (obverse and reverse, sculpted by John P. McGraw)
Quarter 4: U.S. Constitution

James Madison, the "Father of the Constitution," shares the obverse with Independence Hall. The reverse honors the framework of American government, ratified in 1788, that has endured for over 235 years.
Designers: Joel Iskowitz (obverse, sculpted by Don Everhart) / Donna Weaver (reverse, sculpted by Phebe Hemphill)
Quarter 5: Gettysburg Address

Abraham Lincoln appears on the obverse, his weathered face capturing the burden of war with a forward-looking gaze of resolve. The reverse depicts two hands clasping each other — holding the nation together — inscribed with "A NEW NATION CONCEIVED IN LIBERTY."
Designers: Justin Kunz (obverse, sculpted by Don Everhart) / Beth Zaiken (reverse, sculpted by Craig A. Campbell)
Collecting the Complete Set
With unique obverse and reverse designs, the 2026 quarters offer more variety than any previous quarter program. Collectors pursuing a complete set need at minimum 10 coins (5 designs x 2 mints), or 15 if including San Francisco proof/silver versions. Die variety hunters should be especially attentive — new designs frequently produce doubled dies and other varieties in their first year of production.
