The History of Sports Commemoratives
This is not the first time the U.S. has commemorated international athletics. Previous programs include the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame coins. Soccer has never before been the subject of a U.S. commemorative coin program, making this a first.
