Help Us Expand the Catalog

NumisDex currently covers a wide range of U.S. coinage — from colonial issues to modern commemoratives, from die varieties to mint errors, from tokens and medals to territorial gold. But no catalog is ever truly complete.

Current Coverage

Our catalog includes over 72,000 listings organized across these major areas:

  • Regular issue coinage — Every denomination from Half Cents through modern dollars

  • Commemoratives — Both classic (1892-1954) and modern (1982-present) commemorative programs

  • Bullion — American Eagle, Buffalo, and other precious metal programs

  • Colonials — Pre-federal coinage including state coppers and continental issues

  • Patterns — Judd-numbered experimental and trial strike pieces

  • Territorial — Private gold, pioneer, and territorial issues

  • Tokens and medals — Civil War tokens, Hard Times tokens, store cards, U.S. Mint medals, and exonumia

  • Error types — distinct error categories including doubled dies, RPMs, cuds, off-center strikes, and more

What's Missing?

If you collect or study a series that isn't well-represented in our catalog, we want to know about it. Some areas we know need expansion:

  • World coins with U.S. connections (Philippines, Panama Canal Zone, etc.)

  • Modern commemorative errors and varieties

  • Specialized VAM sub-varieties

  • Underrepresented error types on modern coinage

  • Foreign coinage with U.S. die connections (e.g., coins struck from U.S. Mint exported dies)

How Suggestions Are Handled

When you suggest a new series or category, our team evaluates the scope, available reference data, and collector interest. High-demand series with established attribution systems (published reference numbers, known populations, collector communities) are prioritized. We'll update this thread with status notes as suggestions are reviewed and acted upon.

Reply to this thread with your suggestions. Include the series name, approximate scope (how many varieties or entries you'd expect), and any reference materials or published catalogs that would be useful for building out the data. If you're willing to help with data entry or verification for a new series, mention that as well — community-driven expansion is the fastest way to grow the catalog.
